Why wax?
Waxing is the perfect way to pamper yourself with silky-smooth, supple skin. It's the only hair removal method that leaves you hair-free for weeks, from 3 to even 6 weeks! No more daily shaving, just long-lasting, wonderfully smooth skin.
Is waxing the same as resin?
No, waxing and resin are not the same. Waxing often involves rollers and strips – convenient for the esthetician, but less pleasant for you. Waxing, on the other hand, is a precise technique with soft, comfortable wax that's considered the international standard. Your skin is treated with care, for better results and less discomfort.
What types of wax are there?
We use two types of wax:
Hardwax: Perfect for sensitive areas like your face, armpits, and bikini line. This wax adheres only to the hairs, not to your skin, and is removed without strips.
Strip wax: Ideal for larger areas like legs and arms. A thin layer of wax is applied and removed with cotton strips.
Does it hurt the first time waxing?
We understand that waxing can sound a bit daunting. Perhaps you've heard some horror stories? Don't worry, with over 10 years of experience, you're in good hands at Miss. Elegance. You'll be guided step by step, so you'll quickly discover that waxing isn't scary at all. It even feels like a small personal victory—one to be proud of!
How long should my hair be?
The perfect length is 5 to 15 millimeters. Too short? Then the wax can't grip the hairs properly. Too long? Then the treatment feels less pleasant. So make sure your hairs are the ideal length for the best results. As a rule of thumb: don't shave for 14 days.
Can I wax when I'm on my period? Can I wax when I'm on my period?
Other salons allow waxing during menstruation, provided the client uses a tampon. Miss. Elegance™ does not.
And there are several reasons why this isn't possible at Miss. Elegance™:
Increased sensitivity: During menstruation, the skin is often more sensitive, which can make treatment more painful and increases the risk of skin irritation.
Hygiene considerations: Despite using tampons, hygiene challenges can arise. Menstruation can make it more difficult to maintain a sterile environment, which is essential for preventing infections.
Because hygiene is too important for Miss Elegance, it's simply better to wait a few days (until after your period).
Reduced comfort for you: Menstruation can be accompanied by discomforts such as cramps and fatigue. A wax treatment can exacerbate this, resulting in a less pleasant experience for you.
Risk of complications: During menstruation, the body is more sensitive to pain and blood vessels may be more dilated, which can increase the risk of bruising or other complications during waxing.
At Miss. Elegance™, you can reschedule your appointment free of charge if you're unexpectedly on your period.
But there's an exception to every rule. If you've scheduled your waxing appointment for your vacation, for example, I'll make an exception for you!
Can I wax if I am allergic to rosin?
Unfortunately not. Rosin is an ingredient in our wax and is also found in products like bandages, chewing gum, and ink. If you have allergies, we advise against waxing with us.
Does Miss. Elegance™ offer sugaring?
No, we believe in the power of waxing! Sugaring takes longer, is more painful, and doesn't align with the Miss. Elegance™ mission: fast, professional, and hygienic hair removal.
Can I shave between waxing treatments?
You can shave, but we advise against it. Shaving causes stubble, itching, and bumps, and makes your next waxing session less comfortable. Choose waxing to keep your hairs soft and fine.
Can I wax when pregnant?
Absolutely! Many pregnant women even find waxing a godsend, especially in the final months. It's hygienic and comfortable, especially as they approach delivery. Most women also experience no discomfort after waxing during pregnancy. But (!) there are, of course, always exceptions. Read more about that below:
Please note: During pregnancy, the body undergoes significant hormonal changes that can make the skin more sensitive. As a result, some women may experience skin reactions after waxing, such as redness, swelling, or breakouts.
This increased sensitivity is due to:
Hormonal fluctuations: During pregnancy, hormone levels change, which affects sebum production and the overall condition of the skin. This can lead to irritated skin or pregnancy acne.
Increased blood flow: The increase in blood circulation can make the skin more sensitive to external treatments, such as waxing.
For these reasons, it's important to be aware of potential skin reactions after waxing. It's also advisable to take good care of your skin after the treatment and treat any irritation.
Help! I can't find a sitter and have a waxing appointment at Miss. Elegance™
Don't worry, it'll just happen. Children are welcome and can wait for mom for a while. Just let me know, and I'll be sure to accommodate.
Can I wax with a piercing?
Of course! But it's more convenient to remove it from the intimate area.
Can I bring someone with me to the treatment?
Some teens like to bring their moms along. And friends regularly get together. It's so much fun!
What is the minimum age for waxing?
You can start as early as age 12. (But only with your parents' permission!) The sooner you start, the better!
If you are nervous about your first appointment, you can always bring your mother or a friend.
