During laser hair removal, light energy is directed at the pigment in the hair. This energy is converted into heat and travels through the hair towards the hair follicle. The aim is to affect active hair follicles so that hair growth is reduced for the long term following a course of treatments.
Effective laser hair removal involves more than simply “using the laser”. Preparation, skin and hair assessment, the correct settings, growth phases and treatment intervals all determine how a treatment course is structured.

Preparing properly for laser hair removal
Proper preparation helps us perform the treatment safely and carefully. The hair root needs to remain in place, while long hairs above the skin are unnecessary. The treatment area should therefore be shaved, not waxed or epilated.
Shave beforehand
Shave the treatment area approximately 24 hours before your appointment, unless advised otherwise beforehand.
Do not wax or epilate
The hair must remain inside the follicle. Do not pull out the hairs during a course of laser treatments.
Arrive with clean skin
The treatment area should preferably be free from deodorant, body lotion, oil and other cosmetics.
Report any changes
New medication, skin reactions, sun exposure or other relevant changes must be discussed before treatment.

What happens during laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal uses selective light energy. Pigment in the hair absorbs part of this energy and converts it into heat. The heat travels through the hair towards the follicle, where it affects the structures involved in new hair growth.
Your skin, hair thickness, pigmentation and treatment area are all considered when selecting the settings. The device alone is therefore not what matters: the combination of technology, settings and professional assessment determines the treatment.

What can you expect from laser hair removal?
The aim of laser hair removal is a significant, long-lasting reduction in unwanted hair growth. How quickly and to what extent hair growth is reduced varies from person to person.
Dark, pigmented hairs generally respond better than very light, white or grey hairs because the treatment requires sufficient pigment. Hair thickness, skin type, body area, growth cycle and hormonal factors can also influence how the treatment progresses.
We therefore do not promise that everyone will be completely hair-free after exactly the same number of treatments. Progress is assessed according to how the hair growth actually responds.

Laser hair removal aims to achieve long-lasting or permanent hair reduction, not to guarantee that every single hair will disappear forever. New or changing hair growth may later be influenced by biological and hormonal factors, among others.
