LASER HAIR REMOVAL ALKMAAR - HOW DOES IT WORK?

01

Laser hair removal Alkmaar - how to get started

By now, you have read the contraindications and the general terms and conditions.

During our first appointment, your skin will be scanned with the AI skin and hair analysis so that I know the correct parameters immediately.

Important conditions:

Do not wax within 2–3 weeks before your appointment (shaving is still recommended).

Avoid sun and tanning beds 1 to 2 weeks before your treatment.

02

Laser hair removal Alkmaar - your preparation

Good preparation is essential for successful laser hair removal in Alkmaar.

  • Shaving: Shave the area to be treated 24 hours before your appointment so that the laser can reach the hair follicle directly.
  • Avoid perfumed products on the day itself.
  • No deodorant or body lotion on the day itself.
  • Hygiene: Shower before your appointment to reduce bacteria.
  • Clothing: It is very good for your skin if you do not wear tight clothing that day.

03

Permanent hair removal Alkmaar - your treatment

Your hairs are lasered with the High Power Diode ICE Laser with AI, ideal for virtually all skin types.

The laser targets the pigment in the hair follicles and removes them effectively without damaging your skin. Thanks to the cooling, it is a completely painless and comfortable treatment. The laser not only targets the pigment in the hairs but also destroys the proteins at the base of the hair follicle. As a result, the hair follicle no longer receives nourishment, leading to permanent hair reduction. — perfect for those choosing permanent hair removal in Alkmaar.

04

Permanent hair removal Alkmaar - the result & aftercare

After the treatment, the treated hairs begin to fall out within 5–14 days.

After 2–3 weeks, you will notice less hair growth and smoother skin.

Some hairs grow back thinner and softer. Because hair growth occurs in phases, an average of 6 to 12 sessions are needed for a lasting smooth result.

After every treatment, you see the difference: less, lighter, and finer hair. Feel free to scroll down for more information.

Miss. Elegance™ • Laser Hair Removal Alkmaar

“Finally, smooth, calm and well-groomed skin”

How does laser hair removal work?

Laser hair removal in Alkmaar is a safe and comfortable treatment in which the hair follicle is precisely targeted with a powerful diode laser. The skin feels calmer, smoother, and more well-groomed, while hair growth gradually decreases.

Personal

Every treatment is tailored to skin type, area, and hair type.

Comfortable

Thanks to powerful cooling, the treatment is often experienced as very manageable to almost painless.

Honest advice

Not every hair type is suitable. That is why safety always comes first.

Before your appointment

Consultation and skin analysis

Booking an appointment is easy via WhatsApp. During the consultation, skin type, hair colour, hair thickness, treatment area, and any specific details are assessed. The A.I. skin and hair analysis helps ensure the treatment is carried out carefully and safely.

Treatments take place in a calm, private setting and are performed by one dedicated practitioner: owner Esther.

Important preparation

  • Shave 24 hours in advance
  • Do not wax or epilate
  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds
  • Do not use deodorant, oil, or body lotion on the day itself
  • Arrive clean for your appointment

When is laser hair removal not recommended?

Laser hair removal is not the right choice in every situation. Treatment is postponed or not carried out in cases of recent sun or tanning bed exposure, certain medications or medical contraindications, irritated skin, tattoos or piercings in the treatment area, and with blonde, red, grey, or white hair.

Darker skin types are also not treated with laser within Miss. Elegance™. Once the skin itself contains a high level of pigment, the risk of overheating, pigment changes, and hypopigmentation increases. Safety always comes first.

With blonde, red, grey, and white hair, there is often too little usable pigment present to effectively treat the hair follicle. As a result, outcomes are often limited or absent. In that case, waxing is usually advised as a more suitable alternative.

Additional preparation

Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds
Calm, untanned skin can be treated more safely and beautifully. That is why sun exposure and tanning beds are discouraged before treatment.

Arrive clean for your appointment
Hygiene is important. Shower beforehand and do not use oil, body lotion, deodorant, or strongly fragranced products on the areas to be treated.

How a laser session works

1

Check

The skin and treatment area are checked and prepared.

2

Settings

The settings are adjusted to your skin type, hair colour, and hair thickness.

3

Treatment

The laser targets the pigment in the hair follicle and treats the follicle with precision.

4

Aftercare

The skin is given time to rest. For sensitive areas, Bepanthen is pleasant; for other areas, Aloe Vera gel is often suitable.

What does it feel like during treatment?

Many clients expect laser hair removal to be painful. In practice, this is usually not the case. Thanks to the powerful cooling, the treatment is often experienced as comfortable and very manageable.

What can you expect?

Treated hairs often begin to shed within 5 to 14 days. The skin feels smoother and hair growth gradually becomes less dense, finer, and softer.

Why are multiple treatments needed?

Hair grows in different phases. Only in the active growth phase can the laser effectively reach the hair follicle. That is why an average of 6 to 10 treatments is needed for a beautiful and long-lasting result.

Anagen phase

The active growth phase. This is the phase in which laser treatment is most effective.

Catagen phase

The transition phase. The hair begins to detach from the follicle.

Telogen phase

The resting phase. In this phase, the laser has no effect on that specific hair.

Average treatment intervals

Target group Area Average interval Explanation
Women Face 4 weeks, later 4–6 weeks Faster growth cycle.
Women Underarms Start at 5 weeks, later 6 weeks Often responds well.
Women Bikini / Full Brazilian Start at 5 weeks, later 6–7 weeks Hormone-sensitive area.
Women Arms / abdomen / chest / back 6 weeks, later 8 weeks Average rhythm for body areas.
Women Legs 8 weeks, later 8–10 weeks Slower growth cycle.
Men Beard / neck 4 weeks Shorter intervals offer no added value.
Men Underarms / chest / abdomen 5 weeks, later 6 weeks Often shows a good response.
Men Back / shoulders 6 weeks, later 8–10 weeks Larger areas with a slower growth cycle.

Waiting longer is not harmful, but the full treatment plan may take longer as a result.

Which skin and hair types are suitable for laser treatment?

Light skin with dark hair

This is usually the most suitable combination for laser hair removal. The laser can target the pigment in the hair more effectively, which often allows hairs to respond faster and treatments to be built up effectively.

Medium-toned skin

Careful assessment is also important here. At Miss. Elegance™, it is always first evaluated whether treatment is safe and suitable.

Dark skin or very light hair

At Miss. Elegance™, this is not recommended. With darker skin, the risk of overheating and pigment changes increases. With blonde, red, grey, and white hair, there is often too little usable pigment for an effective result. In these situations, waxing is usually advised as a suitable alternative.

When can laser hair removal offer additional relief?

Laser hair removal is a proven effective method for reducing unwanted hair growth on the face and body. In some situations, it can also provide additional comfort.

Suitable for

  • Unwanted hair growth on the face and body
  • Ingrown hairs and shaving irritation
  • Folliculitis
  • PCOS

Also relevant for

  • Pilonidal sinus
  • Hidradenitis Suppurativa

It is always carefully assessed whether laser treatment is suitable and safe in your situation.

How should you care for the skin afterwards?

Aftercare

  • keep the skin calm during the first few days
  • do not use aggressive products on the treated area
  • avoid direct sun exposure on treated skin
  • use SPF in summer on exposed areas
  • for sensitive areas, optionally use Bepanthen
  • for other areas, optionally use Aloe Vera gel

Please note: it is preferable not to shave during the first 10 days after treatment unless really necessary.
