Agree to the Terms and Conditions after reading the contraindications.

02

Laser hair removal Alkmaar - your preparation

Good preparation is essential for successful laser hair removal Alkmaar.

  • Shaving: Shave the area to be treated 24–48 hours before your appointment so that the laser can reach the hair follicle directly.
  • Avoid perfumed products on the day itself.
  • No deodorant or body lotion on the day itself.
  • Hygiene: Shower before your appointment to reduce bacteria.
  • Clothing: It is very good for your skin if you do not wear tight clothing that day.

03

Permanent hair removal Alkmaar - your treatment

Your hairs are lasered with the High Power Diode ICE Laser with 4 wavelengths, ideal for virtually all skin types. The laser targets the pigment in the hair follicles and effectively removes them without damaging your skin. Thanks to the cooling process, it's a completely painless and comfortable treatment. The laser not only targets the pigment in the hair but also destroys the proteins at the base of the hair follicle. This deprives the hair follicle of nutrients, leading to permanent hair reduction—perfect for those opting for permanent hair removal in Alkmaar.

04

Permanent hair removal Alkmaar - the result

After treatment, the treated hairs will begin to fall out within 5–14 days.

After 2–3 weeks you will notice less hair growth and smoother skin.

Some hairs grow back thinner and softer. Because hair growth occurs in phases, an average of 6 to 12 sessions are needed for a lasting smooth result. After each treatment, you'll see the difference: less, lighter, and finer hair. Scroll down for more information.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL ALKMAAR - EXPLANATION

IMPORTANT FACTORS

Laser hair removal works based on selective photothermolysis. This means that a specific wavelength of light is focused on the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicle. This light is converted into heat, damaging the hair root. The surrounding skin remains undamaged because the energy is only absorbed by the pigment in the hair. Dark hair contains more melanin and therefore absorbs more laser energy. This often makes the treatment more effective for this hair type. Your skin type also plays a role: people with light skin and dark hair usually respond fastest to laser hair removal. Special lasers have been developed for darker skin, such as the Nd:YAG laser. Miss. Elegance™ uses a powerful diode laser that is suitable for virtually any skin type. Finally, it is important that the laser settings—such as pulse duration and energy—are carefully adjusted to your skin and hair. This way, the hair follicle is treated effectively without damaging the skin. You can read more about this in the following tabs, or schedule a no-obligation intake to explore together what suits you best.

HAIR GROWS IN CYCLES

Hair grows in cycles, consisting of three phases: Anagen phase (growth phase): Hair is actively growing and connected to the hair follicle. This is the only phase in which laser hair removal is effective, because the laser can reach and destroy the follicle. Catagen phase (transition phase): Hair stops growing and breaks the connection with the follicle. Laser treatment is less effective in this phase. Telogen phase (resting phase): Hair is completely detached from the follicle and eventually falls out. Laser treatment is ineffective in this phase. Because only a portion of the hair is in the anagen phase at a time, multiple treatments are needed to effectively remove all the hair.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU HAVE LASER SEEING?

On average, 6 to 10 treatments are needed for a smooth and long-lasting result. Usually, 6 to 8 sessions are sufficient, but for larger or hormone-sensitive areas such as the bikini line, back, or chest, experts sometimes recommend 8 to 10. Treatments are scheduled at intervals according to the hair growth cycle, specifically focusing on the anagen phase, or growth phase. Therefore, it's wise to schedule sessions per area as follows: Face: every 4 to 6 weeks, because facial hair grows faster Body, such as arms, legs, and torso: every 6 to 8 weeks, due to a slower growth cycle Full Brazilian: usually also every 6 to 8 weeks, but sometimes up to 10 sessions are needed due to hormone sensitivity. Why these intervals are important: With laser treatments, only the hair follicle in the anagen phase is sensitive to the heat and pigment of the laser. Not all hairs are in this growth phase at the same time; on average, only 20 percent are. By treating regularly according to this cycle, you reach a new area of hair each time, and the effect becomes increasingly greater. In summary: 6 to 8 sessions is the average for most areas. Larger or hormone-sensitive areas may require 8 to 10 sessions. Shorter intervals of 4 to 6 weeks are suitable for faster-growing hair. Longer intervals of 6 to 8 weeks work well for slower-growing or hormone-sensitive areas. Treating during the correct growth phase achieves the best and most lasting results.

How does it work for different hair types?

The color and texture of your hair play a significant role in the effectiveness of laser hair removal. Dark and thick hair contains a lot of pigment (melanin) and therefore responds most quickly to the laser. This hair type absorbs the energy optimally, so results are often visible after just a few treatments. Light brown hair also works well, although sometimes more sessions are needed than with dark hair. Do you have blond, red, or gray hair? Then laser hair removal is unfortunately less effective. These hair colors contain little pigment, which can make the laser less effective. At Miss. Elegance™, we always honestly assess with you whether laser hair removal is a smart choice for you. And if not? Then waxing might be a good alternative.

MISS. ELEGANCE™ - OPTIMAL SAFETY LASER ALKMAAR -

They always work safely and gently, but they value honest advice even more than empty promises. During a phone call, they'll openly and clearly explain what you can expect and what alternatives are available if laser hair removal isn't the best option.

Every skin reacts differently to laser hair removal.

    • Fair skin types (fair skin, light to dark hair): The laser is absorbed best by fair skin and dark hair. Results are visible quickly: hairs usually begin to fall out within 1 to 2 weeks. Fewer treatments are often needed to achieve a lasting smooth result.
    • Tinted skin types (light to medium skin, dark hair): Results are also excellent for tinted skin. However, the skin requires a little more care to prevent pigment shifts. Hair loss usually begins within 2 to 3 weeks. Sometimes one or two additional sessions are needed for the best results.
    • Dark skin types (dark skin, black hair): For dark skin with black hair, we use the special Nd:YAG laser. This laser was developed to safely treat skin types with a high melanin content. The Nd:YAG laser penetrates deeper into the skin, thus minimizing the risk of burning or pigment shifts. However, it's important to be honest: Even with the right equipment, there's always a small risk of hypopigmentation (light spots) in dark skin. Therefore, every treatment is performed carefully and with extra attention. With dark skin, it may take a little longer for the treated hairs to start falling out, often within 2 to 3 weeks after the session. Additional treatments may also be necessary to achieve the desired end result. In some cases, I recommend choosing a different hair removal method. Safety is paramount.
