For people with darker skin (Fitzpatrick skin type V–VI), the Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm) is the most suitable choice. This laser has a longer wavelength that penetrates deeper into the skin and bypasses the melanin in the upper skin layers. This significantly reduces the risk of skin damage and makes the treatment safer for darker skin types.

Blonde and gray hair contain less melanin, which means that laser energy is absorbed less effectively. As a result, laser hair removal is often less successful with these hair colors. Red hair contains mainly pheomelanin and hardly any eumelanin, the pigment needed to effectively absorb laser energy. As a result, laser hair removal is usually not successful for red hair. Even with the latest laser technologies, the effect remains very limited. Miss. Elegance™ advises choosing an alternative hair removal method for red hair, such as waxing, to still achieve a smooth and well-groomed result.

Thin downy hairs contain very little pigment and are therefore not suitable for laser hair removal. It is not possible to achieve a successful and beautiful result with them.
