Your preparation at home & hygiene

Good preparation is essential for successful laser hair removal Alkmaar.

  • Shaving: Shave the area to be treated 24–48 hours before your appointment so that the laser can directly reach the hair follicle.
  • Avoid perfumed products on the day itself.
  • Hygiene: Shower before your appointment to reduce bacteria.
  • Clothing: It is very nice for your skin if you do not wear tight clothing that day.

After the treatment, hairs will start to fall out within 1 to 3 weeks. Because hair growth occurs in phases, an average of 6 to 8 sessions are needed for a permanently smooth result. After each treatment, you will see the difference: less, lighter and finer hair. You can schedule a new session every 4 to 6 weeks for optimal success.

The Diode ICE Laser combines four powerful wavelengths: Alexandrite, Diode, Nd:YAG and 755/808/1064 nm. This allows the treatment to be perfectly tailored to your skin and hair type.


How does it work on different skin types?

Every skin reacts differently to laser hair removal. Miss. Elegance™ carefully looks at your skin type and adjusts the settings accordingly.

  • Light skin types (light skin, light to dark hair): The laser is best absorbed by light skin and dark hair. The result is quickly visible: the hairs usually start to fall out within 1 to 2 weeks. Often fewer treatments are needed to achieve a permanently smooth result.
  • Tinted skin types (light to tinted skin, dark hair): The results are also excellent for tinted skin. The skin does require a little more care to prevent pigment shifts. Hair loss usually starts within 2 to 3 weeks. Sometimes 1 or 2 extra sessions are needed for the best result.
  • Dark skin types (dark skin, black hair): For dark skin with black hair, the special Nd:YAG laser is used. This laser has been developed to safely treat skin types with a lot of melanin. The Nd:YAG laser penetrates deeper into the skin and therefore minimizes the risk of burning or pigment shift. However, it is important to be honest: Even with the right equipment, there is always a small risk of hypopigmentation (light spots) with dark skin. That is why every treatment is carried out carefully and with extra attention. With dark skin, it may take a little longer for the treated hairs to start falling out, often within 2 to 3 weeks after the session. It may also be necessary to have more treatments to achieve the desired end result. In some cases, I advise choosing a different hair removal method. Because safety comes first.

Elegance™ therefore openly and clearly discusses what you can expect and what alternatives are possible if laser hair removal is not the best choice.


How does it work on different hair types?

The color and structure of your hair also determine the result:

  • Dark, thick hair: Responds fastest to laser treatments. This hair absorbs the laser energy optimally and therefore provides the most beautiful results.
  • Light brown hair: Responds well, but may require more sessions than dark hair.
  • Blonde, red or grey hair: Laser hair removal unfortunately works less or not well here, because these hair colours contain little pigment. Miss. Elegance™ will honestly discuss during a telephone conversation whether laser hair removal is the right choice for your hair type, or whether waxing offers a better solution.

  • Within 1 to 3 weeks after each session, the treated hairs will begin to fall out.
